187th Mamburam Annual Uroos Begins with Spiritual Fervor 

Tirurangadi: The 187th Mamburam Annual Uroos commenced with deep spiritual devotion and a serene atmosphere. This annual observance, centered around Qutbuzzaman Sayyid Alavi Mouladdaveela Al-Hussaini Thangal, who provided Kerala’s Muslim community with both spiritual and social guidance, will witness a steady stream of pilgrims over the next week, transcending caste and religious boundaries. This is the 27th Uroos being held since the Darul Huda Managing Committee assumed the responsibility of managing the Maqam.

The official inauguration took place yesterday at 4:30 PM, with the ceremonial hoisting of the flag by Sayyid Ahmad Jifri Thangal of Mamburam. Following the Asr prayer, the collective Ziyarath was led by Sayyid Abbasali Shihab Thangal. He also inaugurated the newly established Mamburam Thangal Institute for Research and Heritage Studies, a dedicated academic and research centre.

After the Maghrib prayer, the Mamburam Swalath gathering was led by Sayyid Muhammad Koya Thangal Jamalullail, the Qazi of Kozhikode.

The seven-day long Uroos will feature a rich array of spiritual and scholarly events, including Majlisunnoor gatherings, Majlisul Ishq, religious lectures, a history congress, Hifz convocation conference, and various dhikr – dua sessions.

Tonight at 7:30 PM, the Majlisunnoor gathering will be led by Panakkad Sayyid Hameedali Shihab Thangal. K.M. Saidalavi Haji Pulikkode will preside the session. Sayyid Fakhuruddin Thangal will deliver the keynote address. Other participants include Kutti Hassan Darimi, Hassan Saqafi Pookkottur, Ishaq Bakhavi Chemmad, and Shebin Badr Wafi. Tomorrow night will feature the Majlisul Ishq, inaugurated by Sayyid Muinali Shihab Thangal and led by Anwar Ali Hudawi Puliyakkode.

Islamic Speech session will be held at 7:30 PM on July 29, 30, and July 1. On July 29 (Sunday), Musthafa Hudawi Aakkode will lead the session following the inaugural talk of Sayyid Munavvarali Shihab Thangal. On July 30, Sayyid Basheerali Shihab Thangal will inaugurate and Abdussamad Pookkottur will deliver the lecture. On July 1, Sayyid Rasheedali Shihab Thangal will inaugurate, and Noushad Bakhavi Chirayinkeezhu will deliver the keynote address.

On Monday, July 30 at 10 AM, a history congress titled "The World of Mamburam Thangal" will be held, focusing on his life and vision. Speakers include Dr. M.H. Ilyas (Professor, MG University), Dr. Abhilash Malayil (Asst. Professor, Kalady Sanskrit University), and Sarfaraz (Research Scholar, Ashoka University).

The Wednesday, July  schedule includes commemoration ceremony, Hifz convocation conference, and a prayer session following them. Samastha Treasurer P.P. Umar Musliyar Koyyod will inaugurate and distribute the certificates for students who completed Qur'an memorization at Sayyid Alavi Mouladdaveela Hifz College. Prof. K. Alikkutty Musliyar (General Secretary, Samastha) will lead the opening prayer, and Darul Huda Vice Chancellor Dr. Bahauddeen Muhammad Nadwi will preside. Sayyid AbduNnasir Hayy Shihab Thangal of Panakkad will lead the concluding prayer session.

On the final day, Thursday, July 3, annadanam (community feast) will begin at 8 AM. Panakkad Sayyid Swadiqali Shihab Thangal will inaugurate the program. Sayyid Abdurrahman Jifri Thangal of Kozhikode will preside the session and personalities including P.K. Kunhalikutty MLA, Abid Hussain Thangal MLA, Sayyid Ahmad Jifri Thangal of Mamburam, and A.P. Sudheesh will attend.

The one week lasting Uroos will conclude at 1:30 PM with the Moulid and Dua session. The final prayer will be led by Samastha President Sayyid Muhammad Jifri Muthukoya Thangal.

Tirurangadi: The Mamburam Thangal Institute for Research and Heritage Studies, named after freedom fighter and social reformer Sayyid Alavi Thangal of Mamburam, was officially inaugurated by Panakkad Sayyid Abbas Ali Shihab Thangal.

The initiative, launched by Darul Huda Islamic University, aims to coordinate present and future research efforts centered around the life and contributions of Mamburam Thangal, who played a key role in offering spiritual and political leadership to Kerala’s society. The newly established centre, located near the Mamburam Maqam, includes a research room, discussion hall, coordinating office, and a reference library.

“The goal of this centre is to bring the life and legacy of Mamburam Thangal—who arrived in Kerala from Yemen and became an integral part of Malabar’s historical narrative—into the mainstream of academic research,” said Dr. Moyin Hudawi Malayamma, Director of the Mamburam Thangal Heritage Centre.

Tirurangadi: On the behalf of 187th Uroos of Sayyid Alavi Thangal of Mamburam, the third edition of the history seminar titled ‘The World of Mamburam Thangal’ will be held on Sunday at 9:30 AM at the courtyard of the Mamburam Thangal residence.
The seminar will be inaugurated by Dr. Bahauddeen Muhammad Nadwi, Vice-Chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University. Dr. Rafeeq Ali Hudawi Puzhakkattiri  will preside over the function.
Three academic papers will be presented during the seminar. Mahatma Gandhi University Professor, Dr. M. H Illyas will speak on “Ocean, Travel, and Social Formation: The Mamburam Thangals and Malabar”, Assistant Professor of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit,Dr. Abhilash Malayil will talk on “Land and Wealth as One: Laboring Mappilas and the Economic Structure of Malabar during the Mamburam Era” and Ashoka University PhD Researcher, Sarfaraz will discuss about “Afterlives of Mamburam Thangal”.

Tirurangadi, June 27: The 187th edition of the Mamburam Annual Nercha commenced its week-long observances with a series of religious speeches set to begin today. The inaugural session, scheduled for 7.30 p.m., will be presided over by Panakkad Sayyid Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal, with Mustafa Hudawi Akkode delivering the keynote address.

On the second day, Panakkad Sayyid Basheer Ali Shihab Thangal will formally inaugurate the day’s programme, followed by a sermon by Abdussamad Pookkottur. Sayyid Rasheed Ali Shihab Thangal is slated to inaugurate the July 1 session, with a lecture by Noushad Bakhavi Chirayinkeezhu.

On Wednesday, the third day of the Nercha, the Majlisul Ishq was inaugurated by Sayyid Muin Ali Shihab Thangal, with Anwar Ali Hudawi Puliyakkode leading the proceedings.

A historical seminar titled “The World of Mamburam Thangal”, focusing on the life and vision of the thangal, will be held at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow. The session will be inaugurated by Darul Huda Islamic University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bahauddeen Muhammad Nadwi and chaired by Academic Registrar Dr. Rafiq Ali Hudawi Karimpanakkal. Speakers will include Dr. M.H. Ilyas of MG University, Dr. Abhilash Malayil of Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University, Kalady, and Sarfaraz, a research scholar from Ashoka University.

On July 2, the Mamburam Thangal Memorial Session, Hifz Sanad Distribution, and a collective prayer meet will be held in the evening. Samastha Treasurer P.P. Umar Musliyar of Koyyod will inaugurate the function and distribute the certificates to students who completed Qur'an memorisation at the Sayyid Alavi Mauladdaveela Hifz-ul-Qur'an College. Prof. K. Alikutty Musliyar, General Secretary of Samastha, will offer the opening prayer, and Dr. Bahauddeen Muhammad Nadwi will preside. Panakkad Sayyid Abdunnasir Hayy Shihab Thangal will lead the prayer session.

The valedictory day, July 3, will feature a public Annadanam from 8 a.m. onwards. The Annadaanm will be inaugurated by Panakkad Sayyid Swadiqali Shihab Thangal and chaired by Sayyid Abdurrahman Jifri Thangal of Kozhikode. Among those expected to attend are MLAs P.K. Kunhalikutty and Abid Hussain Thangal, along with Sayyid Ahmad Jifri Thangal and A.P. Sudheesh.

The week-long spiritual observance will conclude at 1.30 p.m. with the Moulid Khatm Du'a, led by Samastha President Sayyid Muhammad Jifri Muthukoya Thangal.
